What Are Course Nodes?

Modified on Mon, 30 Oct 2023 at 11:35 AM

Nodes at the Course level are the workflow building blocks representing “who is responsible” for the work to be done and the “types of tasks”. Course level nodes are attached to a category, which is represented as columns. In the workflow, nodes are represented as thumbnails (white box containing node title and description). Once a node is added to a workflow, you can move, duplicate, or delete it as needed. See Adding Course Nodes.

  • Node from the Preparation category: can indicate tasks such as readings and other things an instructor must do to prepare for a lesson, class or activity
  • Node from the Lesson category: these can be activities, labs or any unit of instruction which form the backbone of the course.
  • Node from the Artifact category: this is for descriptions of the types of things students will be asked to produce during the lesson or course. Examples: worksheets, drawings, lab reports, etc.
  • Node from the Assessment category: this allows for descriptions of the materials used for assessments and to indicate where within a course, students are being evaluated.
  • Adding custom categories: you can add a fifth node category (or more).
